Colour: Rich gold
Nose: Mineralic and salty with hints of nettle or even smoky rooibos (red bush) tea. Tamed smoke and earthy notes of ceramic, wet clay and a pottery kiln are balanced by sweet lavender, and shellfish.
Palate: Several decades in the cask has tamed this Bowmore’s traditional floral smoke into a sizzle of citrus soaked shellfish gently searing on a wood fire. The mouthfeel is chalky and tingles like Edinburgh rock melting on the tongue.
Finish: A mouth drying gentle smoke dawdles on the palate for quite a while. What an extraordinary Islay whisky.
